David Vamplew wins the Sunday Rebuy for over $61,000!

David Vamplew

Yet again, the United Kingdom and Ireland’s finest put in some exceptional results in the Sunday Majors, with wins and big scores galore, including David “david1213” Vamplew winning the $225,000 guaranteed Sunday Rebuy for a cool $61,457.00.

This week’s Snday Rebuy saw 1,032 players buy in for $100+$9 and they in turn rebought 1,407 times and purchased 883 add-ons! This created a massive $332,200 prize pool that was shared among the top 117 finishers. Some of our heroes who helped themselves to some cash included, Daniel “danloulou” Smyth (92nd) and JP “MrBarrett82” Kelly (12th), with the rest of the in-the-money list reading like a who’s who of the poker world.

Despite the large jumps in the payout structure there was no deal struck at the final table, meaning the former European Poker Tour London winner Vamplew walked away with an impressive $61,457.00 for his victory – his second largest-ever online cash. Congratulations, Vampy!

A quick scan of the PokerStars Sunday Majors’ results shows “textbookstu” finished fourth in the Sunday Kickoff for a score of $11,189.00, while Ireland’s James “deyrzuited” Noonan finished second in The Bigger $109 for a massive score of $39,943.80. Noonan was joined on that particular final table by Tom “hitthehole” Middleton who finished sixth for $11,266.20.

Elsewhere, Christopher “claynuts” Clayton and David “Scarer” Kilpatrick were busy finishing second and fourth respectively in The Hotter $75. Clayton chopped three-handed and took home $22,721.49 for his efforts.

The Sunday Million saw two of our players reach the final table and take home over $110,000 in prize money! “ruuuuby” finished in sixth spot for a cool $46,170.00 while “Noobladonk” crashed out in fourth place and was awarded $77,565.00.

The Sunday $500 is a tournament that the UK & Irish boys and girls traditionally do well in, and this week was no exception. Mat “Matfrankland” Frankland reached 12th place, while his friend and fellow Ivey Poker pro John “johne147” Eames fell in eighth place. Both “MuckeDBoY” and “Stavros,” who finished sixth and second, have the UK listed as their current location but are from Spain and the USA respectively.

Joining Vamplew in the winner’s circle is “2muchluv,” the champion of The Bigger $162. 2muchluv chopped heads-up with “Strz” of Finland to take home $41,018.59. Joining the winner on the final table was the third placed Charlie “JIZOINT” Combes, "LolS" in fifth and Irishman “torino2000” in ninth place.

The biggest score of the weekend, for the UK & Irish players that is, is nestled in the PokerStars account of “SWFAZ.” How much did they win? A breath-taking $110,825.64! If that massive sum was not impressive enough, the fact they won it from a $55 tournament makes it even more special.

SWFAZ was one of seven players who chopped the $1,000,000 Guaranteed Red Spade Open. They eventually busted in fourth place but took the third largest amount of money – a superb result. Tom “danutpeddler” Kitt of Ireland also bagged a huge score, picking up $83,643.32 for his sixth place finish.

Congratulations to everyone who made it into the money and commiserations to those who did not! Good luck at the tables for this week.
