Instead of sitting at home and watching re-runs of Harry Potter, Jurassic Park and James Bond this coming May bank holiday weekend, why not head over to north Dublin for the Irish Pub Poker Gathering?
Taking place at the White Sands Hotel Portmarnock on May 3-May 5, the Irish Pub Poker Gathering is sure to be, as they say, a good craic. Entry to the tournament is only €120 but for that measly sum players start with a generous stack of 30,000 chips and play to a blind structure that starts at just 25/50.
Blind levels are 30 minutes on Day 1 and increase to 40 minutes on subsequent days.
As is the case with a large number of low buy-in tournaments these days, the Pub Poker gathering is to be played as a re-entry tournament, which should help them get close to – if not meet – the substantial €15,000 guaranteed prize pool.
Day 1a and Day 1b kickoff at 15:00 on Friday 3 May and Saturday 4 May respectively, with the final day taking place at the slightly early time of 14:00 on Sunday 5 May.
As you would expect from a tournament named the Pub Poker Gathering, there will be plenty of opportunity to have fun away from the tables. According to the Irish Poker Boards, there is a golf day planned and the hotel will feature live entertainment throughout the weekend. For those of you who are partial to a drop of Guinness you will be delighted to know there will be a pub crawl on the Sunday and the hotel also has a nightclub!
