Craig McCorkell Wins the Sunday Warm-Up After a Five-Way Chop

Craig McCorkell

A lack of a good nights’ sleep is not usually the best preparation for playing Day 1B of the European Poker Tour London Main Event, but when the reduced sleep has been caused by a profitable Sunday at the PokerStars virtual felt, it should not have as much of a negative effect on you.

That is what Craig McCorkell will be hoping anyway after he built up to today’s Day 1B of EPT London by winning the Sunday Warm-Up after a five-way chop. McCorkell took the largest slice of the $676,000 prize pool, $80,203.81 finding its way into the World Series of Poker bracelet winner’s PokerStars account. Fellow Brit, Christopher “NigDawG” Brammer who fell in eighth place for $8,450.00, joined the youngster on the final table.

Rhys “floppinhel” Jones, the Main Event Travel sponsored pro, narrowly missed out on joining Brammer and McCorkell on the final table of the Sunday Warm-Up as he busted out in 12th place. He made amends for that by reaching the final table of the $109+R Sunday Rebuy where he finished fifth for a $16,007.25 score. Jones was kept company, for a short while at least, by former European Poker Tour San Remo champion, Rupert “ElRupert” Elder, who finished eighth.

Irishman “dinos622” had a fantastic Sunday night and will no doubt be ranked higher than his current 20th place (in Ireland) when the PocketFives rankings are updated midweek. The man from Tipperary finished second in The Bigger $109 for a cool $37,259.25 and then won, after a three-way chop, The Bigger $162 for an additional $45,098.65. Amazing tekkers!
