The popular UK Student Poker Championships return to the Ricoh Arena, Coventry on March 25-28 and this time they have a brand new sponsor in tow.
Poker-loving students at St. Andrews University in Scotland created the UK Student Poker Championships nine years ago and it has gone from strength-to-strength. The championships are now the biggest student-only poker tournament in the world and their cause can only be helped by having the backing of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT).
The highlight of the mini festival is the £30+£5 Main Event, a tournament that attracted 300 runners in 2012. Lewis Hield won the 2012 edition, walking away with £2,190 and a d4 Events Dublin package for his efforts. This year the prizes for victory will be even more substantial as the GUKPT is adding a £2,000 Grand Final seat to the prize pool!
The GUKPT is also giving a £550 GUKPT seat to the winner of the £100+£10 High Roller event, plus there are five GUKPT Goliath seats up for grabs for the best performing university in the team competition.
