Every poker player worth his or her salt looks forward to Sunday, the day that the biggest tournaments take place in the online poker world. For most, Sunday’s end in bitter disappointment but occasionally the stars align, the Poker Gods are appeased and Sunday’s become very profitable indeed.
Sam Grafton, fresh from his 24th place finish in the European Poker Tour Deauville Main Event, returned to the virtual felt of Full Tilt Poker on Sunday and won The Sunday Brawl. Grafton outlasted a field of 1,004 players in the $256 buy-in event to get his hands on the $40,160 first place prize.
Christopher Brammer, the former number one ranked online tournament player in the world, added yet another title to his name when he won The Bigger $109 on PokerStars for a cool $49,077.29. Brammer, known as “NigDawG” on PokerStars, managed to navigate his way through a field of 3,116 players on his way to victory, including fellow countryman “nickybea83” who he beat heads-up to secure the win.
Elsewhere, there were a myriad of near misses in the Sunday Majors for our boys and girls. Ash “DYBYDX” Mason, who is moving to Australia from Leeds, finished eighth in the Sunday Warm-Up on PokerStars; JP Kelly was the 13th place finisher in the Sunday Million; Mathew “matfrankland” Frankland also had a 13th place finish but in the Sunday 500, the same tournament Stephen “stevie444” Chidwick finished second in.
The Bigger $162 saw Gerald “Geraldo22” Cochlan finish fifth while in the $162 buy-in Nightly Fifty Grand “BWFCLEE” and “MrKloutt” reached the final table, busting in second and fifth place respectively.
Some super results from our players this past Sunday and plenty of cash won, which is never a bad thing. Stay tuned for our weekly update of all the Sunday action later today or on Tuesday morning.
