PokerStars to Open Macau's Largest Branded Poker Room at City of Dreams

On Feb. 21, 2013, PokerStars announced it will launch a branded live poker room called PokerStars LIVE at the City of Dreams. This announcement comes on the heels of Macau's growing interest in poker as the industry continues to boom in the region.

“The PokerStars online brand drives more traffic to live poker events than any other,” said Danny McDonagh, PokerStars Director of Live Operations for Asia-Pacific. “Players know that PokerStars is synonymous with integrity and high quality. That makes this collaboration a natural fit because City of Dreams has been at the forefront in providing the most innovative and premium gaming experience that is second to none in Macau.

The room will be located on the main casino floor of the City of Dreams Casino, a property along the Cotai Strip in Macau, owned and managed by Melco Crown Entertainment, and will offer both cash games and tournaments at 13 permanent tables. PokerStars events such as the Asia-Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Macau poker festival, the Asia Championship of Poker (ACOP), the Macau Poker Cup series and the Macau Millions will now be hosted at the new venue.

The move to the City of Dreams will surely ignite some new found excitement among those who regularly travel to Macau for much of what PokerStars has to offer. For one thing, the new venue is home to Club Cubic, one of the most energetic and electrifying nightclubs in Macau, which has always been a favorite nightlife spot of the players.
