Norwegian players can buy into the Norwegian Championship Main Event on the day, but there is also the option to qualify for the tournament on PokerStars – and doing so has many added incentives. The five best placed PokerStars players will each receive a package to the 2014 Norwegian Championship, with the very best place also receiving five nights’ accommodation!

As if that is not enough, the eventual champion of the Norgemesterskapet Main Event will also receive €10,000 to cover a flight to Las Vegas and the buy-in for the 2013 World Series of Poker main Event thanks to the organisers of the festival. If that winner is a PokerStars player, PokerStars will pay for the champions’ guest to jin them in Las Vegas in the PokerStars Norwegian house from July 6-17! This would give the winner 12 days of luxury accommodation in “Sin City!”

Please note, the PokerStars promotions are only open to citizens of Norway and to Norwegian citizens who live abroad.

Last year’s Norwegian Championship Main Event saw 1,046 entrants compete for a slice of the €753,520 prize pool. Stefan Retterholt was the eventual champion, winning €133,000 after defeating Arne Jervell heads-up for the title.

UK & Ireland PokerNews are of the understanding that the Main Event is only open to Norwegians, although legally you could really play it if you wanted to. However, with 2,000 Norwegians expected to descend on Dublin, it may be a wiser choice to leave the Main Event to them! Please check with the Citywest Hotel that you eligible to play in any of the events before travelling.
