The PokerStars UKIPT Heads to Edinburgh

UKIPT Edinburgh

The PokerStars United Kingdom & Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) heads north of the border to bonny Scotland for the latest instalment of the UKIPT Edinburgh festival, which begins on Wednesday.

This will be the third time the UKIPT has visited Edinburgh in its three-season history, but Season 3 sees the tour find a new home. The first two UKIPT Edinburgh festivals took place in the Edinburgh Corn Exchange but Season 3 sees the tour uproot and head to the luxurious location that is the Balmoral Hotel.

Located on Princes Street – an Edinburgh hotspot – the five-star Balmoral Hotel is within walking distance of Edinburgh’s bustling city centre and just a 25-minute drive from Edinburgh airport. The new location could help the UKIPT Edinburgh main event have an increased attendance for the third consecutive year.

In Season 1, there were 401 players battling it out for the title of champion, an honour that was eventually bestowed on Nick Abou Risk. The following season 519 players packed into the Edinburgh Corn Exchange, but only one man left as a winner. That man was Ireland’s Fintan Gavin. How many players will compete in Season 3’s main event and who will be the eventual champion?

UKIPT Edinbugh is a cashless festival, which means the only way to buy into any of the events is to do so via the PokerStars client. This unique ruling means we can already see which players are set to play and on what starting day! Day 1a will be frequented by the likes of David “davidv1213” Vamplew; the controversial Nick “MI_turtle” Rainey; Dara “SlowDoke” OKearney and Team PokerStars Online’s Dale “Daleroxxu” Philip who is flying back to his native Edinburgh from Thailand for this event!

Day 1b will see the likes of Jack “jackellwood” Ellwood; GUKPT Grand Final champion Sam “SamSquid” Grafton; Sam “The KodFather” Razavi; Simon “x1deadmanx1” Deadman; Jason “blaaaaaah666” Tompkins; Team PokerStars Online’s Grzegorz “DaWarsaw” Nikielewicz and Team PokerStars Pros Christophe De Meulder; Marcel Luske and the newest addition to the roster, Jake Cody.
