TCOOP Day 2: Guarantees Smashed by Massive Fields!
The Turbo Championship Of Online Poker (TCOOP) continued on PokerStars yesterday with another four supercharged tournaments. Each of the four TCOOP events played on Friday had prize pools that exceeded their guarantees, with a staggering $1,276,542.20 being paid out!
TCOOP Event #5: $27 NL Draw
Event #5 was the $27 buy-in no limit Draw tournament that featured a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool. By the end of registration, there were 2,340 players bought in and a prize pool of $57,447 had been created. The top 300 players received a slice of this prize pool, with the eventual winner walking away with $9,049.45.
TCOOP Event #6: $55 NL Hold’em 6—Max Shootout
Event #6 was always going to see its guaranteed prize pool exceeded as the shootout format has grown extremely popular in recent years. A total of 3,672 players bought in for $55 and created a prize pool of $183,600 – almost double the $100,000 guaranteed amount.
By the time the final table was reached, the blinds had increased to such a level that those players who reached it decided to split the remaining prize pool. This meant the six players locked up a $14,807.67 score, though Greece’s “apostolis20” helped himself to the extra $2,000 that had to be set aside for the winner.

TCOOP Event #7: $27+R NL Hold’em
Rebuy tournaments are very popular on PokerStars and TCOOP Event #7 was no different. There were 8,089 entries to the $27 rebuy event, and they made 9,046 re-buys and purchased 4,209 add-ons. All this buying action meant a prize pool of $523,995.20 was created, over $123,000 more than the advertised amount!
With such a large amount of money on the line it was no surprise that some of online poker’s biggest names were participating. Some of those who reached the top 1,080 places and therefore received prize money, included Marc “dean23price” Wright (958th); Toby “810ofclubs” Lewis (899th); Stephane “FouTight” Bisson (856th); Jack “jackellwood” Elllwood (448th); Ross “RLOG” Loggie (409th) amd Team PokerStars Online Mickey “mement_mori” Petersen (105th) to name a few.
Each of the nine players who managed to navigate their way through to the final table were awarded at least $4,060.96 for their efforts, but that paled into insignificance when compared to the giant $78,607.86 first place prize.
TCOOP Event #8: $82 NL Hold’em Big Antes 2x Chance
Another TCOOP event, another guarantee completely crushed by its popularity. Event #8 boasted an already impressive guaranteed prize pool of $300,000, but by the time the 4,805 entrants had re-bought 2,015 times between them, the prize pool stood at $511,500!
Among the 630 money winners were Jeff “ICuRaRook” Gray (447th) Laurence “rivermanl” Houghton (409th); Marty “TheLipoFund” Mathis (303rd) and Thayer “THAY3R” Rasmussen (157th).
Larger amounts of prize money went to the final table members – and rightly so – with a min-cash on the final nine being worth $4,092 and the champion scooping $80,246.01. That final prize was altered somewhat when "StovsugerN" of Denmark and "LastDrive" of Greece chopped heads-up. Here’s how the final table paid out.
