Serge Van Landegham is the GUKPT Champion of Champions!

Serge Van Landegham

The Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) Champion of Champions tournament took place over the weekend where 94 players took to the felt in Luton to compete in a £100,000 freeroll. The eventual champion was Serge Van Landegham who walked away with the £22,630 first place prize.

The Champion of Champions tournament is a freeroll event that is only open to players who have won an event on the GUKPT tour during a given season. Side events, Main Event and online legs are all eligible, with Van Landegham earning his seat after taking down a €100 side event at GUKPT Belgium in June 2012.

Van Landegham managed to navigate his way through the talented crowd that included players such as the James Akenhead, Jeff Kimber and his eventual heads-up opponent, the in-form Simon Deadman.

Deadman began the one-on-one battle with Van Landegham with a two-to-one chip advantage, but not only managed to draw level but win every chip in play. The final hand saw Deadman all-in and at risk whilst holding {A-}{J-} and Van Ladegham needing to hit at least one of his hole card, {9-}{8-}. Van Ladegham did more than just hit, he completely smashed the flop by hitting trips! They held and Vab Ladegham became the 2012 GUKPT Champion of Champions.
