South Yorkshire’s Rick “TheClaimeer” Trigg is still the number one ranked online poker tournament player in the UK & Ireland and is now also ranked in eighth place in the world, according to the PocketFives.com ranking system.
Trigg has been in, quite frankly, ridiculous form of late and thoroughly deserves all of the accolades that are being thrown his way. That crazy weekend aside, Trigg has been making deep runs for fun of late, some of his latest results being a second place finish in the $51 Hyper-Turbo on PokerStars for $5,538; a fourth place finish in the $215+R NL Hold’em on PokerStars for $7,659, and an outright win in a $12,500 guaranteed on Full Tilt Poker for an additional $3,125.
Trigg is now 250 points in front of his nearest rival, Chris “moorman1” Moorman in the UK & Ireland standings and just a couple of hundred points away from breaking into the top 5 in the worldwide rankings. Amazing stuff from the Sheffield lad.
As mentioned, it is Moorman who is Trigg closest rival in the rankings and had Lady Luck shined on Moorman a little more than she has been doing, he would have claimed the top spot for himself. As you would expect from a player of Moorman’ calibre, he has been making deep run after deep run but falling just short of massive scores. Once the Aussie Millions is out of the way, expect Moorman to hit the virtual felt hard and turn those deep runs into final tables and wins.
Rounding out the top 5 places are Toby “810ofclubs” Lewis; Rhys “floppinhel” Jones and Christopher “NigDawG” Brammer. All three of those players are currently sunning themselves in the southern hemisphere so do not expect too much challenging for the number one spot to take place over the next week or so.
One player who continues to impress is Martin “molliemalone” Malone, who currently resides in sixth place. Malone has been putting in some excellent results of late, the best in recent times coming just a few days ago when he won The Big $55 on PokerStars for a cool $20,667 score.
