Chris “moorman1” Moorman Retains Number One Spot in Online Rankings

Chris Moorman

We are less than a week into 2013, but already there has been an updated leader board in the online poker tournament rankings. Unsurprisingly, there has not been much change in the standings since the previous update as many poker players do actually take the festive period off. This means Chris “moorman1” Moorman is still the number one ranked player in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Moorman’s last online cashes happened on Dec. 18 when he reached the money places five times, made three final tables and won $5,814.16. We would be surprised if Moorman adds to his points tally over the next month or so because he will be competing in the upcoming PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and almost certainly the 2013 Aussie Millions straight after. This could mean he is knocked from his lofty perch before January is out.

Christopher “NigDawG” Brammer is Moorman’s nearest rival in the first week of 2013’s standings. Brammer has played since Christmas and he has already been on the winner’s podium, having won the $215 Turbo on PokerStars on Dec.30 for a cool $20,979.00. Like Moorman, we would expect Brammer to be playing a full schedule at the PCA and in Australia so do not be surprised if you see his name drop out of the top few spots in the rankings.

Rounding out the top five places are Toby “810ofclubs” Lewis, Rhys “floppinhel” Jones – who finished fourth in the recent Sunday 500 on PokerStars – and Marc “dean23price” Wright.

Positions five through ten are occupied by Rick “TheClaimeer” Trigg, Jon “EMSBas” Spinks, a newcomer to the top 10 in the shape of Martin “molliemalone” Malone, Sam “TheSquid” Grafton and Mathew “matfrankland” Frankland.

None of the current top 10 ranked players can afford to rest on their laurels because there are some very talented players right behind them in the chasing pack. Player such as Ross “RLOG” Loggie, former European Poker Tour London champion David “davidv1213” Vamplew, Paul “badpab2” Foltyn and the Irish contingent of Nelius “danceofthefdead” Foley, Jude “j.thaddeus” Ainsworth and Niall “danloulou” Smyth.

Here at UK & Ireland PokerNews, we believe 2013 will be an exceptional year for our players both online and at the felt. Good luck to each and every one of you!
