Sky Poker pro Julian Thew has helped himself to yet another live poker title after he outlasted a field of 188 in the latest 500 Deepstack at the Dusk Till Dawn poker club in Nottingham. Thew took home £26,299 for his efforts.
Thew started Day 2 in the middle of the pack of 45 surviving players, but by the time the final table was reached there was only ever going to one result – a Thew victory. That victory came at just after 04:00am after Lawrence Townsend, Dipak Makawana, Fahd Bennani Smires, Sean Randall, Kael Caldeira, Waheed “Wadey” Ashraf, Jason Barton and Thew’s heads-up opponent Tsun Wong had all busted out.
This latest win was Thew’s third outright victory of 2012 and takes his total live tournament career cashes towards the $3,000,000 barrier. In January, Thew won the Luton leg of the Sky Poker Tour for £11,200; then in October he took down a £200 No Limit Hold’em Six-Max event at the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) Luton festival and now he has added the DTD 500 Deepstack to his already impressive list of tournament results.

Running alongside the 500 Deepstack was the smaller 150 Deepstack. This £150+£18 buy-in tournament saw 220 entrants create a prize pool of £33,000. The lion’s share of this prize pool — £7,781.33 to be exact – found its way into the bankroll of Chris Gill, who defeated Juan Riera Roig heads-up for the title.
The highlight of this weekend’s action at Dusk Till Dawn is their Incredible 100 tournament that kicks off on Saturday afternoon at 17:15. As the name suggests, the tournament costs £100 to enter (plus £15 registration fee) and it boasts a £20,000 guarantee. Players start with 20,000 chips and play to a 30-minute clock, but if they somehow dust off their stack in the early stages of the tournament they can rebuy once. One add-on is also available to those wishing to purchase it.
