APAT Member Carl “fandango” Pilgrim gets into the Festive Spirit
‘Tis the season to be jolly, a time for sharing and a time for forgiveness. Many people use the happiness create by Christmas to give something back to their community and that is exactly what Carl Pilgrim has chosen to do.
Pilgrim is a member of the popular Amateur Poker Association & Tour (APAT) where he posts on their forums under the alias “fandango.” Pilgrim is a popular figure in APAT circles and that popularity has soared in the past week thanks to him showing generosity to his fellow APAT members.
In August, Pilgrim won the £100 buy-in European Amateur Poker Championship in Nottingham and followed that excellent result up with a win in the United Kingdom Amateur Poker Championship just a couple of months later. In addition to the £11,999 in prize money Pilgrim won, he also picked up two gold medals and two seats to a Genting Poker Series main event of his choice. Now he is offering to give away one of those two seats in exchange for a small donation to the a Muscular Dystrophy charity.
Pilgrim started a thread on the APAT forum where Pilgrim explains:
[sic]As many of you already know, i have had a rather amazing 2012 when it comes to APAT poker..!! Never beyond any of my wildest dreams would i ever think of winning one yet alone two championships!..
Along with the medals and cash i won i also was gifted with the great added value of Genting Series seats for both wins..
I always wanted to play at least one of these events next year, and upon the release of the new tour dates im thrilled that they are holding a leg at the newly refurbished Westcliffe on Sea casino which i will be excited about playing with one of my seats .
With the situation i have personally, i find it somewhat of a struggle to attend all of the live poker a year i would like to play, and being a huge fan of everything APAT i like to make sure when i do have the opportunity, that i put these events first.
So i would like to give something back to the community that has supported me, whenever i have managed to run deep you guys have been totally amazing with the messages of good luck etc,, and the remarks after a win have been so humbling you could never understand.. You have always made me feel so welcome at the live events, and helped me when i needed it, little things like helping me to and from the table, chip stacking etc mean alot to me and truly appreciate this.. making Emma feel welcome/comfy as she sits bored out of her skull whilst i sit there for hours upon hours being a complete nit .
So i would like to run a free roll/charity tournament for one of my added value Genting seats..
This is a superb idea from Pilgrim and one that should be applauded and supported. Should you wish to make a donation to Pilgrim’s charity of choice, feel free to visit his dedicated Just Giving page. At time of writing he has raised £781.95 and we think it would be amazing if this amount could pass through the £1,000 by Christmas.
The APAT community is one of the friendliest in the world and their team spirit and camaraderie are second to none. For more information, or to see the community for yourself, head over to the APAT site.
