The Genting Poker Big Game takes place at the Fox Poker Club on Monday evening and whoever enters it will help to raise money for a fantastic cause.
The £1,000+£80 buy-in monthly tournament often attracts some of the United Kingdom’s best poker talent, but this month’s event could see a massive crowd descend on the Shaftsbury Avenue-based poker club as the Fox Poker Club have agreed to donate 50% of entry fees to the Great Ormond Street Hospital.
James Akenhead, who wrote on his Facebook wall, “50% of reg fees at the Fox Club big game 1k event this Monday will be donated to the Great Ormond St Hospital,” first made UK & Ireland PokerNews aware of this fantastic gesture. Players are also encouraged to bring anything they may want to donate to the charity as a Christmas present for a child.
This is an absolutely fantastic gesture and we sincerely hope that the players support it and help raise some vital funds for the charity. In addition to donating £40 per entry to the charity, Genting have also placed a £1,000 bounty on the head of Daiva “Baltic Blonde” Barauskaite, which can be used as GPS 2013 Main Event Seat package — oh and a Christmas hamper is up for grabs too!
Great Ormond Street Hospital first opened its doors on Valentine’s Day 1852 with just 10 beds. Fast forward to the present day and the hospital is the UK’s largest paediatric centre for many services and one of the world’s leading children’s hospitals. Although part of the National Health Service, Great Ormond Street Hospital attempt to continually raise funds so they can stay at the forefront of children’s medicine and care.
