Marc “dean23price” Wright Closes In On Number One Spot In The UK & Ireland Rankings

Marc "dean23price" Wright

Christopher “NigDawG” Brammer is still the man to catch in the UK & Ireland rankings but Marc “dean23price” Wright has closed the gap to less than 230 points and is just one big score away from claiming the number one berth.

When Brammer spoke to is in the Best of British Isles piece he admitted that since the World Series of Poker Europe and European Poker Tour San Remo he had not sat down and grinded online. That looks set to change, not only because Wright is rapidly catching him in the rankings but because Brammer issued a challenge to his Facebook friends offering 6/4 odds on him beating them in the November PLB rankings.

We are not sure if anyone took up Brammer on his offer but just the thought of it has seen the Southampton-based pro really ramp up the volume and the results have followed. Although they do not count towards this week’s standing, Brammer has two wins and is set for a Triple Crown. On Nov. 12 Brammer won the $11 rebuy Action Hour on PokerStars for $2,681.91 and the following night took down a $100 buy-in competition on Betfair for an additional $3,433.85.

Not to be outdone, the aforementioned Wright has also been in the winner’s circle too. Wright plays almost exclusively on PokerStars where he plays upwards of 20 tables at a time, which allows him to log ridiculous volume. Over the past couple of nights right has won a $54 No Limit Hold’em Knockout on PokerStars and a $27 No Limit Hold’em Turbo Knockout also on PokerStars. Like Brammer’s wins, these results have not counted towards his overall points total yet but will make for interesting reading next week.

Toby “810ofclubs” Lewis is just outside of the top 10 but a handful of impressive results should boost his points tally considerably. An outright win in The Hot €100 on PokerStars.FR was followed up with another win, this time he took down a $100 buy-in tournament on the recently relaunched Full Tilt Poker and since then he has come ever so close to completing what would be his third Triple Crown; he has finished second or third five times since his double win! Lewis has until Nov. 16 to win a third tournament to add another Triple Crown to his already impressive CV.
