Day 1b of the Genting Poker Series Sheffield Main Event has been completed and the man who ended the day with the chip lead finds himself at the top of the chip counts overall going into Day 2. Step forward Nathan Farnaby.
Farnaby bagged up an impressive 341,100 chips; around 100,000 more than anyone else did in the field. Farnaby had a big score in October, taking home £8,500 when he chopped the £200 buy-in Sky Poker Six Max at the Dusk Till Dawn poker club in Nottingham with Alex Goulder.
Oliver Bibby, the man who finished Day 1b second in chips, also owes his largest cash to the Dusk Till Dawn club. In June, Bibby finished seventh in the £500 Deepstack event for a cool £5,037 and if he continues his current run during GPS Sheffield he will likely smash that amount.
Other notable players still in the field include Mark McCluskey (172,500); Tim Chung (152,200), Colburn “Rastafish” Tomlin (149,100); Ben Jackson (140,000); Matthew Heap (118,400); Steve Watts (79,900); Steve Holden (67,200); Ross Boatman (67,100); Sky Poker Pro Ryan Spittles (56,000) and Poker Encore’s Karl Mahrenholz (38,900).
Day 2 kicks off at 13:00 this afternoon and you can watch the live stream of a feature table over on the Genting Poker Series site, but make sure you check into UK & Ireland PokerNews tomorrow to find out which players managed to navigate their way through to Day 3 of GPS Sheffield.
