Dusk Till Dawn Double Deepstack Weekend: Day 1a Completed

Dusk Till Dawn

The Dusk Till Dawn poker club is running dual deepstack tournaments this weekend, the 150 and 500 Deepstack events. Yesterday saw Day 1a of each event take place, here’s a look at how they went.

DTD 500 Deepstack

The £500+£60 buy-in event carries a huge £100,000 guarantee, but if it is to be hit the players are going to have to turn out in force for today’s Day 1b. By the time registration came to a close there were 62 entries accounted for, making up £31,000 of the prize pool. This means at least 138 players need to buy in to meet the guarantee.

The overnight chip leader in the 500 Deepstack is Daniel French who managed to turn his 30,000 starting stack into a most impressive 415,000! His nearest rivals are Tim Blake and Tom Walster who finished the night with 292,000 and 214,500 respectively, going to show how huge French’s stack is.

Only 11 of the 62 starters made it through to Sunday’s Day 2 meaning some of the more well-known players will have to re-enter today. Some of the big names include Alex Goulder, Mark McCluskey, Sam Macdonald, Ceri Rees, Simon Deadman, James Tomlin, Stuart Fox, Timothy Chung, Ian Gascoigne, Yucel “Mad Turk” Eminoglu, and Martin Frey.

We fully expect a whole host of stars to descend on the Nottingham-based club this afternoon for Day 1b, which kicks off at 14:00 and has late registration available until 19:15.

150 Deepstack

The £150+£18 event that kicked off at 17:00 saw a total of 90 players buy-in, of whom 19 made it through to Day 2. Today’s Day 1b needs to attract at least 110 runners by the time registration closes at 19:00 other wish Rob Yong and Co. will have to make up the guarantee.

The title of Day 1a chip leader resides with Paul Mason thanks to him seeing his 30,000 starting stack multiply to 276,500. Four other players crossed the 200,000 chip barrier, Domonic Cugudda (255,000), Jason Holland (247,000), Mark McCluskey (238,000) and Andrius Butkevicius (237,500). Before you ask, yes that is the same Mark McCluskey who busted out of the 500 Deepstack, and if you look slightly further down the leaderboard you will find the same Ceri Rees too!

Check the bust outs and you will see Alex Goulder’s name. Not the best Friday night the youngster has ever had!

Day 1b kicks off at 15:00, be there or be square as they used to say circa 1984.
