Tom Alner In With A Chance Of Winning €1,000,000!

Tom Alner

With all of the negativity surrounding the Partouche Poker Tour Main Event in Cannes it is easy to forget that a major poker tournament is in progress that has €1,000,000 first place prize. One man who will no doubt be completely focussed on getting his hands on the massive payout is Tom Alner, who has made it through to Day 4 of this controversial tournament.

Before play got under way there was an announcement that this would be the last-ever Partouche Poker Tour, something many players will welcome after this week's saga. But as soon as the toys that had been thrown from Patrick Partouche's pram had been cleared away the players got right back down to business.

By the time the curtain came down on another day's play there were just 46 players remaining in the field, each of them knowing they had made it into the money places. Alner ended the day with 426,000 chips, enough to place him 13/46 when play resumes. Everyone who has managed to navigate through to this point of the tournament has locked up at least €17,050 for their effort and are now within touching distance of the massive first place prize.

Alner, who plays under the alias "Aln_The_Kid" on PokerStars, has over $550,000 in online tournament winnings whilst his live cash total is now over $300,000 thank in part to finishing fourth in the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em event at this year's World Series of Poker; a result that netted him a cool $207,019.

The Bristol-based pro cannot be too upset with his table draw for today, although it is likely to be the first table to be broken. There are plenty of chips in play and these chips are mainly in French player's hands, which is not usually where they stay for very long! Here's how he Alner lines up on Table 6.

The man everyone has to catch is Ole Scemion who ended the night with a massive stack of 1,251,000 and was the only player to pass through the magical one million chip barrier. Hot on Scemion's heels is Karen Sarkisyan (957,000) whilst Paul Tedeschi (798,500) and Fabrice Touil (760,000) head the chasing pack.
