The European Short-Handed Poker Championships Have Nearly Sold Out
D4 Events has announced that the European Short-Handed Poker Championships this month is set to be bigger than ever. The €500+€50 re-entry main event is the largest six max event in Europe, and not only has the hotel which it takes place in has sold out, day 1B is nearly full too.
Last year Steven King from Liverpool defeated 656 players, most of whom had travelled to Dublin from France, to take down the €63,000 first prize. That number looks set to be eclipsed this month, as over 540 players have already preregistered including 350 on day 1B.
The Regency Hotel, which is hosting the event, has also sold out due to high demand. However players still looking to play in the event can get the same daily room rate of €69 for a single and €79 for a double at the Travelodge Plaza hotel which is just ten minutes away from the Regency. A free shuttle bus will run to and from the Regency at peak times.
The event is sponsored by French poker site Winamax who are bringing with them 400 satellite winners and direct registrations from France. They are also bringing their full roster of Winamax Pro Players, including Manuel Bevand, Nicolas Levi, Ludovic Lacay, Davidi Kitai, Anthony Lellouche, Ludovic Riehl, Marc Inizan, and WSOP main event final table bubble girl Gaelle Baumann.
D4 Events director Mike Lacey commented about the high demand “We have proved that there is a huge demand for a six max main event and we are expecting up to 840 players, plus alternates. This really is one of the most fun and frantic tournaments of the year, so hurry before you miss out”.
“We may be clashing with the WSOPE but as most of the players who have pre-registered are from France, I think it is fair to say that there is something special about this event that keeps players coming back for more.”
