Day 1b of the £500,000 guaranteed deepstack tournament at the Dusk Till Dawn poker club has been written into the history books and if you check those files you will discover the name of Jerome Oshea sat at the top of the end-of-day chip counts.
Oshea ended the night attempting to fit his 573,500 chips into a solitary clear plastic chip bag, his tally enough to not only see him claim the chip lead for Day 1b but for the tournament overall. Although nothing is certain in poker — especially in a tournament scenario — Oshea will be fancying his chances of at least making it to the money places, which will be hit at some point during Sunday's Day 2.
Five other players finished Day 1b with over 400,000 chips. They were Luke Davies (536,000), Sunil Mistri (432,000), James Keys (417,000), Andrew O'Flaherty (409,500) and Matt Perrins (406,000). Other notable stacks include the legendary Dave 'Devilfish' Ulliott (284,000) and blogger-extraordinaire 'Lil' David Nicholson (222,000).
Although the following players failed to make it through to Day 2 the fact they made the trip to Nottingham is testament to how fantastic the £500,000 guaranteed deepstack tournament is. Some of the big names who will will not be returning to the felt on Sunday include James Mitchell, William Dorey, Triple Crown winner Jake Cody, Laurence 'Rivermanl' Houghton, man of the moment Simon Deadman, Nik Persaud, Ben Jackson, Mark McCluskey, Anthony Gaughan and Ben 'F3nix35' Dobson.
DTD £500k Guaranteed Deepstack End of Day 1b Chip counts
Day 1b saw 220 players (51 survived) enter which when added to the 235 who bought into Day 1a makes the total number of entrants 455. According to the DTD they are currently around 255 players short of reaching the guarantee (when Day 1c's confirmed buy-ins are taken into account) which would mean an overlay of around £120,000. Please support the club by turning out in force for today's Day 1c. It kicks off at 14:00 and late registration is open until 20:30. Get involved!
