The Southern Open Takes Place This Weekend At The Macau Sporting Club

The Macau Sporting Club, Cork, is the venue for The Southern Open; a mini poker festival that will feature three events across two days.

At 13:00 on Saturday 1 September the €300 No Limit Hold'em main event will commence and it should attract some of the best Irish poker players to it. One man who will be playing is the Boyle Poker sponsored pro Nicky Power who welcomes the decision to change the main event from a three-day event to a two-day event.

Speaking in his popular blog, Power said, “There is a decent game [to] look forward to at the Macau Sporting Club Cork for the coming weekend. It's the third leg of the 'Irish Tour' The Souther Open. The organisers have changes the configuration of the leg from three days to two days. I think it is a good move, a two day game is more suited to the buy in of €300 as players don't have to commit to a couple of nights in a hotel. The game will still have a very good structure and a juicy prize pool with a €30,000 guarantee in place.”

Along with the Main Event there will also be a €150 buy-in tournament and a €120 buy-in tournament; all played to No Limit Hold'em. The Macau Sporting Club has a history of hosting great tournaments and the atmosphere's are generally second to none.
