The Stoke Main Event of the Genting Poker Series has reached its official Day 2 and it is Sandeep Shah who leads the way with 147 players remaining.
Forty-eight players made it safely through from Thursday's Day 1a (Steve Warburton's 206,000 stack the biggest on that occasion) and 99 more progressed from Friday's Day 1b where the aforementioned Shah managed to bag up a massive 372,700 chips; we are surprised that they all fit in a single bag!
According to the live updates provided on the Genting Poker Series' site, Shah won what was described as "the cooler of all hands" right at the death of Day 1b to see his stack swell to monstrous proportions. A preflop raising war resulted in two players being all-in, one holding , the other . Shah then woke up with , obviously called, the aces held and he busted out two players in one hand! Easy game.
Other players who ended Day 1b with huge stacks include Chris Ingham (322,100), Xia Ke (233,300) and Long Phan (206,000).
Play resumes at 13:00 this afternoon where the two starting flights will combine producing a field of 147. Who will make it through to Sunday's Day 3? Tune in to these very pages tomorrow to find out the answer to that question!
