APAT European Championship of Amateur Poker Take Place This Weekend

APAT European Championship of Amateur Poker

Whilst the PokerNews Live Reporting team is in Barcelona for the European Poker Tour and I will be in Coventry trying my hardest to win the GUKPT Goliath, hundreds of poker players will be descending on the Dusk Till Dawn poker club in Nottingham this weekend for the annual APAT European Championship of Amateur Poker (ECOAP).

Running from Friday 24 August until Monday 27 August, the ECOAP will feature five excellently-structured events that will pit the very best amateurs players against each other. Whoever emerges victorious from any of the events will definitely have bragging right among their peers.

The ECOAP gets under way on Friday 24 August with a £110 buy-in Team Championship, a two-day event that is sure to be fiercely contested. Also taking place on Frida is the £55 Stud event, which should be very popular indeed seeing how live stud tournaments are something of a rarity not only in the UK but across the world.

Saturday sees the Team Championship draw to a conclusion along with the £55 No Limit Hold'em Six-Max Championship. Sunday afternoon features the tournament everyone will want to win, the £110 European Amateur Poker Championship, dubbed the Main Event.

Last year's Main Event took place at the Rendezvous Casino, Brighton and saw Marie Sherwood walk away with £2,780 after outlasting 124-strong field. That particular event featured a £75 buy-in so expect this year's edition – which has a cap of 200 entrants – to see much larger payouts.
