WSOP Main Event Day 3: 720 Players Remain, Daniel Rudd In Top 10

Daniel Rudd

Another day of high octane poker in the 2012 World Series of Poker and another load of UK & Ireland players manage to progress; 36 of them in fact. The money bubble is looming but which of our boys and girls are in with a shot of some cash?

Another five 120-minute levels were played in the Main Event and during that time more than 1,000 players lost their chips and headed to the sidelines. By the time Jack Effel called time on Day 3's proceedings only 720 players had chips in front of them that needed bagging up and with 666 spots paid the money bubble is well and truly on the horizon.

Our best placed player happens to also be in the top 10 of overall chips, Daniel Rudd. Rudd ended Day 4 with a stack of 834,500 chips and has done his chances of bringing home a gold bracelet no harm at all. Although he has no major live cashes from 2012, Rudd does have over $168,000 in live tournament winnings, his best score coming in 2009 when he won a £750 buy-in European Championships tournament for £17,300.

Also well chipped up is Craig McCorkell who you may recall won the $3,000 No Limit Hold'em Shootout a few weeks back. The youngster is definitely a man in form and now that he has 638,500 chips in his possession he is one to watch during Day 4.

Another one to watch is Marc “dean23price” Wright who is out in Las Vegas after winning a package on Sky Poker. Wright is one of the best online poker tournament players in the UK and his opponents will see how relentless his aggression can be when they face him later today.

We could spend the rest of this article singing the praises of the likes of John O'Shea, JP Kelly, Main Event Travel's Rhys Jones, Chris Moorman, Sam Holden, James Mitchell and Liv Boeree but then it would drag on for pages on end, so instead we will simply leave you with the official chip counts of our heroes as provided by the WSOP.
