Do you want a superbly structured deepstacked poker tournament but do not want to pay through to the teeth to participate in it? Then head to the Macau Sporting Club in Cork this weekend and buy into the Amateur Poker Association & Tour (APAT) Amateur Irish Championship.
The €75+€8 buy-in event kicks off at 14:30 on Saturday 7 July with the second and final day's play beginning at the same time on Sunday 8 July. For your money you will receive a generous stack of 15,000 chips and will play to a tried and tested blind structure that increases every 45-minutes.
This very event last year attracted a field of 61 who between them created a prize pool of €4,575. The eventual winner was Bobby O'Donnell who defeated Ken Burgess heads-up to claim the title and the €1,650 first place prize. This year's field is expected to be much more significant with the Macau Sporting Club holding a number of satellites into the APAT Main Event and the fact Genting are giving the winner a seat to a Genting Poker Series Main Event worth £430.
Good luck to everyone taking part in what should be a memorable event, memorable if you can stay out of the huge selection of pubs in the local area that is!
