When it comes to poker we may be a nation of No Limit Hold'em lovers but we can also mix it up in the other game formats too. If you take a look at the Live Reporting pages for Event #27, the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. You will see the 889 players who started the tournament with high hopes of winning s World Series of Poker bracelet have been whittled down to just 18 and amongst them are a trio of Brits.
The best placed of our three UK representatives is Stephen Chidwick who will have to un-bag and re-stack 220,000 chips when he returns to the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino later today to play out Day 3 of this tournament. His stack, which is almost exactly average, places him ninth in chips and gives him a very realistic chance of winning some WSOP gold.
Joining Chidwick in the same event is Zimnan Ziyard, the reigning European Poker Tour Loutraki champion. Ziyard has already shown his Stud prowess having cashed in the $1,500 Stud Hi/Low and reached the final table of the $5,000 buy-in version so we will certainly be keeping an eye out for him in in this stud-centred game. He starts the day with 204,000 chips.
The third of the British trio is David Rogers who will have to run extremely well from the restart if he is to progress much further in this tournament. He will start the day with just 60,000 chips, placing him 17/18 in chips but he will almost certainly feel like he has nothing to lose when the tournament director gets Day 3 started.
Our three players are each guaranteed at least $7,116 for their efforts in this tournament so far but by the time play draws to a close we hope one of them will be walking away with the $267,081 that is reserved for the eventual champion.
