This weekend the Nottingham-based Dusk Till Dawn poker club hosted their poplar £150 Deepstack tournament but it was their announcement on Day 1a that has and will continue to grab the headlines in the UK poker world for the coming weeks.
Whilst scores of players were heading to the poker club for the £150 Deepstack, 257 of them over the course of the two starting flights, the Dusk Till Dawn management were busy announcing their plans for a £500,000 guaranteed tournament that will be held on five days between Thursday 20 August and Monday 3 September.
The MEGA SIZED £500 Deepstack will feature three starting days, each with a 333 player cap, and will use the World Series of Poker Main Event blind and ante structure but to a 40-minute clock and a 50,000 starting stack. Amazingly the club have slapped a £500,000 guarantee on this event despite the amount of money being more than the previous three tournaments' prize pools combined and they plan to run this every three months if the initial MEGA Sized £500 Deepstack is a success!
Meanwhile back to the weekend just gone and the £150 Deepstack result. In total 257 players paid the £150 entry fee, which left the club with a small overlay to pay in order for the £40,000 guarantee to be reached. At the end of two starting days and the official Day 2 it was Richard Blacklock who emerged victorious after defeating Jonathan Gill heads-up to scoop the £12,341.88 first place prize.
