More Cashes And Deep Runs For UK & Ireland Players At The WSOP

Stephen Chidwick at the PCA

Our boys and girls have been busy helping themselves to more prize money at the 2012 World Series of Poker and a number of them have set themselves up nicely for a legitimate run at a WSOP bracelet - something that has remained elusive for UK & Irish players so far this year in Las Vegas.

Event #23 was the $3,000 No Limit Hold'em Six-Handed tournament that was in full swing by the time this writer went to bed to rest his weary head. As I drifted off the the Land of Nod I was hoping to awake to reports of the UK & Ireland contingent making it through the the latter stages of this popular event but unfortunately that was the case.

Paul "badpab2" Foltyn was the first of ours to bust out, falling in 97th place. He was followed out of the Rio shortly afterwards by Robert Romanello in 94th place; that Triple Crown will have to wait a little longer Robbie! Also making deep runs were the likes of Ashley Mason (68th) and the Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree (47th). Onto the next one ladies and gents.

The $5,000 Omaha Hi/Low Split 8-or Better tournament, Event #24, saw another handful of our heroes in action but most fell short of the money. James Dempsey (let's not mention his bubble finish, ooops) and Richard Ashby didn't have the best of luck throughout the day and busted out before the bubble burst but one young man did make it through to the money places, Stephen Chidwick.

You will probably known Chidwick by his online moniker of "stevie444" one of the most prolific players of the Steps tournaments on PokerStars. He will start Day 3 armed with 109,000 chips which places him 15/27 and this means he has a real chance of winning some poker bling. This particular tournament should make compelling viewing, even from the text reports on the Live Reporting pages, because the Top 10 in chips reads like a who's who of poker. Up at the top of the counts are Phil Ivey, Dan Kelly,Mike Matusow, Brian Hastings, Scotty Nguyen and Joe Cassidy! Sick line-up indeed.

We also have our eye on a few other players but do not want to mention them in case we "bok" them. But when play resumes later today go go go Spon Jinks!
