John Eames Reaches WSOP Event #5 Final Table

John Eames

British poker player shave a great record in the $1,500 Pot Limit Hold'em event at the World Series of Poker and Pot Limit Hold'em games in general and our great run has continued with one of our own reaching the final table of Event #5 of the 2012 WSOP! Step forward John Eames.

When play resumes at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino at 13:00 Las Vegas time (21:00 UK time) our man will be eighth from nine in chips with a stack of 181,000 and will have plenty of work to do if he is to get his hand – or should that be wrist – on a piece of the most sought-after poker jewellery.

Eames was almost joined by fellow Brit and online phenom Jack Ellwood but the lad from the North East fell in 13th place. His exit hand saw him open to 24,000 from UTG+1 and the action folded all the way around to Thom Werthmann in the big blind. The first three community cards came down {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{10-Spades} and Werthmann checked its arrival. Ellwood continued with a 22,000 bet, a bet that Werthmann called. The turn was the {k-Hearts}, Werthmann checked again and Ellwood bet again making it 100,000 to play; an all-in bet. Werthmann snap called but it was ruled Ellwood could only bet 98,000 so the duo put the last 2,000 in blind. The river was the {k-Spades} and Ellwood flipped over {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} but lost out to the {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} that had made a full house. The young Brit picked up $9,075 for his efforts.

So it is up to Eames to fly the Union Jack and bring home the gold in Event #5. if he does so he will have conquered one of the toughest final tables in a $1,500 event because he will be seated with the likes of Bryan “Primordial AA” Pellegrino, Jonathan Aguiar, recent World Poker Tour champion Tommy Vedes and Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu!

Everyone at UK & Ireland PokerNews wishes Eames the very best of luck. Bring it all back to Blighty mate!
