Full Irish Winter Festival Schedule Released

The Irish Winter Festival

At the start of last month UK & Ireland PokerNews brought you the news that paddypowerpoker.com had released a few details regarding the 2012 Irish Winter Festival, but at time of writing the full schedule was yet to be announced. Now we have that information available to us and it looks like the 212 Irish Winter Festival is going to be a beauty!

The festival will run between Saturday 27 October and Monday 29 October with the shining jewel of the extended weekend being the €1,000+€125 Main Event. However, if the €1,125 entry fee is a little out of your bankroll then paddypowerpoker.com are putting on seven other fantastic tournaments with buy-ins ranging between €50+€5 and €300+€35.

Amongst the schedule is a Six-Handed No Limit Hold'em freezeout, a turbo tournament, a Pot Limit Omaha event and two events that have caught our eye; the Doubles Double Chance and the Irish Mythical Championship.

Paddy Power, the Communications Manager for paddypowerpoker.com, spoke about the eagerly anticipated Doubles tournament, “We’re particularly excited about our newest addition to the schedule, the Doubles NLH tournament. Players will team up into pairs and take it in turns to play each level of the tournament. We have structured it as a Double Chance tournament, to give the second team mate reassurance that they will definitely get a chance to play, even if their partner runs into difficulty early on! I think this event will go down a treat, especially with our regulars who love to get involved in the craic at our live poker festivals.”

For those of you who are wondering what the hell a Mythical tournament is do not fear because UK & Ireland PokerNews are here! This scirbbler will be honest and admit he had never heard of Mythical poker and thought it may have been resigned to the confines of Skyrim or a similar RPG but alas it is not. Apparently – Google is my friend – Mythical is a variation of Gin Rummy played with two decks of cards, without jokers. The rules seem simple, if a little long winded, so check out this excellent beginners guide on the Irish Poker Boards for them in full.
