UK Online Tournament Rankings: Chris Brammer Holds Narrow Lead

Chris Brammer

The live poker tournament world has the Global Poker Index, a ranking system that every poker player worth their salt wants to top. The online poker equivalent is the Pocket Fives sortable rankings, where tournament grinders can check where they stand against players from their region, their fellow countrymen and the entire world. This article will be focussing on UK and Irish players.

Leading the UK & Irish charge is Chris “NigDawG” Brammer who was ranked number one in the world at the turn of the year – he's now ranked 10th. Over the past seven days Brammer had 14 cashes, 4 final tables and one outright win. His winnings for the week totalled $44,804.98.

Hot on Brammer's heels is Mathew “matfrankland” Frankland who had an amazing few weeks at the virtual felt. Since May 17 to May 23 “Frankie” made it to the money 15 times and made five final tables. His winnings added up to $87,492.53 thanks to his 10th place finish in the SCOOP High Main Event, a result that netted him a cool $62,040.00. The week previously Frankland finished fourth in the SCOOP Event #29 for an additional $66,130.00 so it has been quite the fortnight from the North East native.

Although these two players are the ones out in front at the moment there is very little between the rest of the top 10 places and a solid run by any of them could see them fly up the rankings and challenge Brammer and Frankland. Players such as Kevin “scarface2911” Howe (3rd), RLOG (4th) and Paul “badpab2” Foltyn (5th) are within touching distance of the number one spot but with the World Series of Poker featuring heavily on the schedules of most of the top 50 it will be interesting to see what effect the WSOP has on the rankings.

Making up the top 10, in order of rank, are Toby “810ofclubs” Lewis, Jack “jackellwood” Ellwood, Billy “BillyChat” Chattaway, Marc “dean23price” Wright and Chris “moorman1” Moorman.

Tune in this time next week to see who the movers and shakers of the past seven days are. Will Brammer still be on top or will Frankland take him down? Only time will tell.
