This weekend is May Day Bank Holiday so you can bet your bottom dollar that any plans you were making to take your other half and kids (if you have them) to the coast for a seaside break will be dashed by the weather. Well it is a good job that the boys and girls at the Dusk Till Dawn poker club have decided to up the guarantee on their 500 Deepstack to a massive £250,000; at least now you have an excuse to give the bank holiday traffic a swerve if the weather actually holds up!
The tournament costs exactly £500 to enter (under the new buy-in formats announced in April) and for that you will receive a 30,000 chip starting stack and play to a tried and tested blind structure that increases every 40-minutes. Saturday's Day 1a starts at 14:00 with late registration open until 21:00, which incidentally is the same time you can re-enter on Day 1a if you bust out. If you do not want to re-enter on Day 1a you can do so between 14:00 and 21:00 on Sunday's Day 1b.
The last time the Nottingham-based club upped the ante and made the guarantee a massive £250,000 they attracted a bumper crowd of 643 players and created a prize pool of £321,500. This was shared out amongst the top 63 finishers with the eventual winner, Ceri Rees, taking home £86,206 for his efforts over the weekend. Not bad at all for a £500 investment.
Blonde Poker forums will be providing live updates from the poker club and we will have details of the winner and a recap of the action for you as soon as we have that information. The very best of luck to anyone who is playing in the 500 Deepstack this weekend.
