Luke Fields is a phenomenal tournament poker player; one of the best in the UK & Ireland that is for sure and he will see his reputation grow and his online ranking increase after almost taking down the Medium ($215) buy-in Spring Championship Of Online Poker (SCOOP) Event #23.
We say almost because Fields came as close to winning a tournament as you can without actually taking it down — he came second. Although bitterly disappointed not to go the whole way and win a SCOOP title, the $41,511.33 with almost certainly go some way to helping him get over this! This latest "win" takes Fields' online tournament winnings on PokerStars agonisingly close to the magical $1,000,000 mark, in fact he only needs another $18,000 in order to reach that total. Over/under on him achieving this by the end of May?!
This is not the first time Fields has just fallen short of glory. You may recall the last Sunday of 2011 where Fields had a superb run in another $215 buy-in event, the Sunday Million on PokerStars, where he could not quite close it out and ultimately finished in third place for a cool $111,712.00; the second largest cash of his online poker career.
Fields is currently ranked 55st in the United Kingdom by PocketFives and 332nd in the world but once this latest score is taken into account he is sure to fly up the rankings and we are sure he has at least one eye on returning to the worldwide top 100 before the year is out.
Congratulations to Fields from all at UK & Ireland PokerNews. Win one next time please!
