Brits Crush EPT Grand Final Side Events

Toby Lewis; Second in the €5k Six-Max event

Although we could not quite muster a Grand Final Main Event champion from the UK or Ireland we did manage to show the rest of the world how is it done in the last few events on the schedule; especially in the €5,000 No Limit Hold'em Six-Max event and the special Tournament of Champions.

In the €5,000 Six-Max event we had no fewer than three players on the final table, Chris Brammer, Matt Perrins and Toby Lewis and between then they won over €146,000. Brammer was the first player to be eliminated from the final table and he was joined on the rail by Perrins who first lost {A-}{K-} against {Q-}{Q-} for the chip lead then {8-}{8-} versus Lewis' {A-}{10-} to get back to average.

Amazingly Lewis was multi-tabling for part of the final table because the former EPT Vilamoura champion was also participating in the Tournament of Champions event too! Lewis went on to finish second in the €5,000 for a €90,300 score, missing out on the win thanks to American pro Dan Smith who walked away with €156,700.

Another player was playing two tables at once despite the live setting was the recently engaged Vicky Coren. The UK & Ireland Team PokerStars Pro was also in the Tournament of Champions at the same time as playing in the Ladies event. The soon-to-be Mrs Mitchell busted out of the Tournament of Champions in ninth place, just outside of the money but finished in second place in the Ladies event for €10,950; losing to Leo Margets heads-up.

Two of our boys made it to the money places in the Tournament of Champions too, netting themselves a combined €42,500 in Season 9 EPT buy-ins. The PKR sponsored pro and Triple Crown winner Jake Cody finished in third place for €17,500 worth of prizes whilst the EPT Loutraki champion Zimnan Ziyard came second for €25,000. Nice going boy and girls!
