The third and final starting day on the PokerStars.com UKIPT Nottingham Main Event was completed yesterday and a staggering 536 players passed through the doors of the Nottingham-based Dusk Till Dawn poker club. This massive field, which in itself would be considered a large tournament, took the total combined attendance to an almost unbelievable 1,625.
Not only has the £1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool been met but it has been completely smashed. The surviving players and now battling it out for a share of £1,137,500; the lion's share of £210,400 going to the winner. A huge congratulations and round of applause has to go to the Dusk Till Dawn management.
A whole host of big names and familiar faces were in attendance for Day 1c including but not limited to Team PokerStars Pros Liv Boeree, Jude Ainsworth, Vicky Coren and Marcel Luske, Triple Crown winner Jake Cody, UKIPT regular Nick Abou Risk and Toby Lewis who flew in from WPT Vienna during the third level! But it was another of the hot shots who has their name displayed at the top of the chip counts, a certain Chris Brammer.
Brammer was on the right side of a set-over-set situation during the very first orbit and from there the man who is often ranked number one in the online poker tournament rankings sailed along and hoovered up chips. By the time 11 one-hour levels had been completed he had turned his 15,000 starting stack into an impressive 180,800 and although there is still a long way to go in this tournament one thinks Brammer would be a solid bet for making it to the money places and from there who knows.
Talking of money, a min-cash in this event is worth £1,250 and that is the amount paid to finishers 181-207 and the prizes increase gradually. Positions 11 and 12 will become the first players to receive a five-figure score (£11,350) whilst everyone on the final table will take home no less than £22,750 and we already know the winner is going to walk away with a wallet-bursting £210,400!
