Paul Foltyn and Rupert Elder Narrowly Miss Out On Glory
Two of the United Kingdom's most respected online poker players had great results over the past couple of days but fell just short on glory. Rupert Elder and Paul Foltyn made it to the final tables of the PokerStars.com Sunday Million and PokerStars.fr SCOOP Main Event final table respectively but just couldn't quite close the deal.
Elder, best known for taking down the European Poker Tour San Remo Main Event in Season 7, managed to navigate his way through a massive field of almost 7,300 players before finally busting out in fifth place. This result bagged him $59,769.80. Shortly after his exit the remaining four players stuck a deal that saw everyone guaranteed no less than $103,000. Amazingly this is not Elder's largest cash online, that stands at $142,886.24 which he picked up for finishing second in the $1,000,000 guaranteed event on the ill-fated Full Tilt Poker.
Hopefully Elder's good form can continue into the live arena as he made it through to Day 2 of the EPT Berlin Main Event which kicks back off at 12:00 CET on Wednesday.
Foltyn, who recently signed his first sponsorship deal with bet24, made it through to the final table of the €1,000 SCOOP Main Event, a 3-day tournament that had a superb structure. Although he started second from nine in chips the Doncaster lad busted out in sixth place, good for €47,093.87. We did not see all of action but we witnessed him lose out to Julian Brecard with on a board, split a pot with vs then run his into a dominating and despite flopping a spade flush draw failed to spike any of his outs.
This latest score takes the online tournament earnings for "Pab" close to $3,900,000!
