The special $1,000,000 winner-takes-all edition of the SuperStar Showdown has come to an abrupt and earlier than anticipated conclusion after Viktor "Islidur1" Blom won $500,000 from Isaac "philivey2964" Haxton in just 5,030 hands.
Blom and Haxton faced off on four heads-up No Limit Hold'em tables with blinds of $200/$400 on Saturday evening and played their first four hour session. The plan was to keep playing daily sessions until one player had won the $500,000 the other had set aside for the purpose of the challenge. Day 1 saw Blom end with a substantial $198,438 lead and then on Sunday they duo clashed again and Blom managed to extend his lead to a massive $281,365.
Then yesterday evening the high stakes cash game gurus logged on and sat down at the virtual felt for what turned out to be the last time in this challenge because Blom won the rest of Haxton's money. That's correct, Blom won a massive $500,000 in just 5,030 hands or for those of you who prefer to talk in terms of hourly rate, the Swede earned around $40,000 per hour during this SuperStar Showdown!
Blom hinted that Haxton could have played a more aggressive style as when he was asked how he felt about winning the match he said, "It feels good. It was a tough game. Haxton played well as usual. Maybe he played a bit too passive."
The hyper-aggressive Swede has now won 11 of his 14 SuperStar Showdown challenges and is in profit to the tune of $1,034,090 during that time. Nice work if you can get it!
