The Sunday Briefing: "Slyfox151" wins Sunday Million 6th Anniversary after Huge Comeback

Sunday Briefing

Another milestone was reached on PokerStars this weekend as the 6th Anniversary of the Sunday Million was celebrated with a $6,000,000 guarantee made for Sunday's biggest tournament. As a result, many of the Sunday Majors also saw increased numbers, and in the last few weeks the guarantees of most have been bumped up.

$200+$1533,732$6,746,400

A $6,000,000 guarantee in the PokerStars Sunday Million 6th Anniversary meant several people would emerge with six-figures added to their bankrolls. Although first place was originally set at seven figures, an eight-handed deal was reached that guaranteed six-figure scores to each, leaving $120,000 on the table for the eventual first-place finisher. Finland's "toode" received the biggest pay day at just shy of $600,000, but bowed out in seventh place.

Despite entering the final table with a mere five big blinds, "slyfox151" battled back and navigated all the way to the end before emerging victorious. Heads-up with "blodders03," "slyfox151" began the duel with about a 2.3:1 chip lead. It wasn't easy from there, but "slyfox151" eventually sealed the deal after "blodders03" shoved on the button for about 10 big blinds with {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}. Holding {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, "slyfox151" called and took it down when the board ran out {J-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} to secure the victory.

$200+$153,664$732,800

The final table of the Sunday Warm-Up was littered with notable players that weaved their ways through the 3,664-player field. One-time Sunday Million winner Tobias "PokerNoob999" Reinkemeier finished ninth, and former EPT Grand Final champion Nicolas "niccc" Chouity took seventh. Among the final four players were Patrick "Bandano" Renkers and Alex "J0hnny_Dr@m@" Zervos. Renkers busted in third, leaving Zervos heads-up with "jorjo2007" for the title of champion.

Unfortunately for Zervos, he finished runner-up. With the board reading {K-Spades}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades}{9-Spades}, Zervos check-raised all in holding {A-Spades}{5-Diamonds}, but trailed "jorjo2007's" {K-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. The {Q-Clubs} hit the river, giving the win to "jorjo2007."
