PaddyPowerPoker Student Masters Is This Weekend
From my experience students seem to get a hard time from non-students. They get called tax dodgers, people think all they do is sleep, get drunk and eat Pot Noodles (other dried noodle-based snacks are available) but that is not all they do. They also play poker.
This weekend sees the 2012 PaddyPowerPoker Student Masters take place at the Burlington Hotel in Dublin, a €100+€10 buy-in No Limit Hold'em tournament that is goin to have an estimated prize pool of €20,000. On top of walking away with pocketfuls of money, the eventual winner will as nab a €3,500 seat to the PaddyPowerPoker Irish Open, which takes place in the same venue between April 6-9.
This year's Student Masters kicks off at 14:00 on March 10 but the final table will be delayed until April 5, the eve of the Irish Open Main Event. If you are planning on making your way to Dublin for this event then be aware that it is expected to sell out rapidly so although you can buy-in on the day, spaces permitting, you are better off buying in online through your PaddyPowerPoker account. There is a cap at 250 players for this event.
If you don't have a PaddyPowerPoker account simply download one through PokerNews and help yourself to a 200% up to $2,000 first deposit bonus.
Last year it was Jamie Flynn who took down the Student Masters after outlasting a crowd of 127 players at the Jackpot Casino Club in Dublin. Since then Flynn has finished fourth in the 2011 UKIPT Cork Main Event for €18,500, and more recently he won the €500 Irish Christmas Poker Festival in December for a further €12,600.
Please note that this event is only open to current students. All participants must be in possession of a valid student identification card otherwise they will be disqualified from the tournament.
