Mark Cobain Reaches Nirvana As He Wins Dusk Till Dawn Super 50

This weekend saw a lower buy-in event take place at the Nottingham-based Dusk Till Dawn poker club, the Super 50, but the lower entry fee did not detract from it being a marvellous tournament that was, as usual, excellently run. One man who will remember his trip to Europe's largest purpose built poker room will be Mark Cobain who not only added his first flag to his Hendon Mob database but he also banked his first outright victory too.

By the time registration had ended there were a total of 240 entries of £50+£8 had been taken meaning the £10,000 guarantee had been met then surpassed by a nice round £2,000. This £12,000 prize pool was to be shared out amongst the top 27 finishers with a min-cash being worth £75.00 and the winner walking away with a bankroll-boosting £3,680.63.

The bubble burst on Saturday evening, Luke Ireson earning himself the unwanted title of bubble boy in this tournament. His exit meant that anyone who had chips in front of them had now locked up some cash for their efforts. One by one the players busted out and headed to the cashier's cage and when Darren Dooley busted out in 10th place the final table was set.

Everyone on the final table had locked up no less than £226.50, not bad for a day's work but they all knew they were just eight eliminations away from that impressive first place prize. The hopes of Matthew Farrell, Colin Smith and James Clutton ended prematurely, as did those of Rob Day, Kevin Brown and Anthony Pyatt.

Rosemary Owen was the last woman standing in this event but she was eliminated in third place, netting a cool £1,291.05, setting up a heads-up battle with Roberto Moss and the aforementioned Cobain. he duo fought it out in the early hours of Sunday morning then at just before 04:00 in the morning Cobain had overcome his sole opponent and scooped the winner's prize.

The Super 50 returns next Saturday so if you missed out this time around then you can have a second bite at the cherry. Other highlights include another UKIPT Mega Satellite with at least five seats to the £1 million guaranteed Nottingham leg up for grabs; along with daily £15+£5 (£750 guaranteed) and £40+£4 (£4,000 guaranteed) tournaments.
