After Day 1a's less than anticipated crowd of just 63 runners in the Poker770 MegaPokerSeries Nottingham Main Event we are pleased to announced a total of 151 players passed through the doors of the Dusk Till Dawn club for Day 1b and 13 of those rebought, meaning the official attendance is a much more substantial 227 entrants.
The man who bagged up the most chips at the end of Day 1b, and of the entire tournament, was John Burberry who ended the day with a massive stack of 307,700 chips. Although not a household name Burberry has a long list of live cashes that date back to the year 2000 and add up to more than $236,000. Burberry is also an online poker regular where his best result is a fourth place finish in a WCOOP event on PokerStars for around $80,000.
Other players who ended the day with big stacks were Emyr Wyn Lewis (261,800), Xavier Charlier (253,700) and Nicholas Crisp (236,900), that last name you may remember as belonging to the winner of February's DTD 500 Deepstack. Others in the top 10 chip counts include Mark "MX-5" Mccluskey, Blackbelt Poker's Warren Wooldridge, WPT Dublin final table member Shaun Conning and online cash game specialist Daniel Morgan.
As predicted some of the UK & Ireland's big guns came out to play yesterday including but not limited to John Eames, Sam Trickett, Charles Chatta, Jamie Burland, Dan Carter, Laurence Houghton and WPT Dublin champion Dave Shallow.
The prizes have not been officially announced yet but we have information that leads us to believe the top 36 places will be paid out, which means that 122 of the remaining 158 players who are still in this tournament will walk away empty handed. Play resumes at 13:00 this afternoon and when the instruction is given to shuffle up and deal Level 8 will commence and the blinds will be 600/1,200/100a.
As usual you can follow the MegaPokerSeries live reporting here but make sure you check back in here tomorrow for a recap of the action.
