Day 2 of the Poker770 MegaPokerSeries Nottingham has come to a close after the 158 platers who had managed to navigate through Day 1a and 1b were whittled down to just 36; bursting the money bubble. Leading the way going into Day 3 is Simon Deadman with 1,420,000 chips.
Deadman is a regular at the Dusk Till Dawn poker club, where this event is taking place, and he has some impressive results in a number of their events such as the Super 50 and the old 300 Deepstack, a tournament he won back in March 2011. Now he has a very real chance of going all the way in this event and adding to his already impressive CV.
But he will be pushed all the way by the other 35 players who will join him this afternoon including the very talented Chaz Chattha who bagged up 1,332,500 chips to end the day hot on the heels of Deadman and he would be our favourite to walk away with the £35,770 first place prize when the dust finally settles in Nottingham. Chattha already has almost $870,000 in live tournament winnings and his last three results read 1st in the Luton leg of the GUKPT, 1st in the £200 Christmas Bonanza Festival Main Event and 2nd in the World Poker Tour Dublin Main Event!
Other Brits who made it through into the money places include the veteran Mickey Wernick, recent DTD Deepstack winner Nicholas Crisp, Dan Morgan, WPT Dublin final table member Steve Watts and James "Epitomised" Atkin.
Play resumes at 13:00 and you can follow live coverage over on the MegaPokerSeries website but be sure to check back here in the morning to find out who has made it through to the final table places!
