Ruslan Vlasov Wins Inaugural Genting Poker Series Main Event

Ruslan Vlasov

The inaugural Genting Poker Series tournament took place at the Star City Casino in Birmingham over the weekend and it was deemed a roaring success by everyone who was involved in the running and indeed the playing of the £400+£30 Main Event. One player who will have particularly fond memories of proceedings is the eventual winner Ruslan Vlasov who walked away with £16,600 and a seat to the season's £1,600 Grand Final to be held at the Palm Beach casino in London.

Including re-entries there were a total of 365 entrants and they created a prize pool of £146,000 that was shared out amongst the top 46 finishers. Amongst those who made if through to the money places included Neil Slade, Ben Jackson, along with Hendon Mob membersRoss Boatman, and Joe Beevers whilst Barny Boatman made it through to the final table before falling in eighth.

During the scheduled dinner break the remaining six players decided to strike a deal based on chip counts with extra money being awarded based on finishing position and the winner claiming the £1,600 Grand Final Seat.

That seat winged its way to Vlasov after a brief heads-up encounter with Neil Ryder. Vlasov held eight of the nine million chips in play so when Ryder moved all in with {J-Clubs}{5-Clubs} it was no surprise that Vlasov snapped him off with {A-Clubs}{7-Spades}. The final board ran out {8-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Clubs} sending Ryder to the rail in second place and leaving Vlasov to become the first-ever Genting Poker Series Champion.

The tour next stops at the Fox Poker Club between March 28 - April 1 and satellites are running on the Genting Poker online site now.
