Sam Trickett's whirlwind year has been capped off in the best possible way, by being crowned the European Player of the Year award at the European Poker Awards ceremony at the famous Aviation Club de France.
Trickett's exploits at the felt during 2011 were nothing short of phenomenal with him winning the $100,000 Challenge at the Aussie Millions then finishing as runner up in the $250,000 Super High Roller a few days later, reaching the final table of the €5,000 Pot Limit Omaha event at the World Series of Poker Europe and winning the Partouche Poker Tour Main Event. When the dust settled on his remarkable year Trickett had won almost $4,600,000 and had three seven-figure score to his name.
The popular Brit beat a tough group to scoop the award, pipping the likes of Jake Cody, Eugene Katchalov, Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier, World Series of Poker Main Event Champion Pius Heinz and Andrey Pateychuk, although three of that group did pick up awards in other areas.
Heinz picked up the award for Best Tournament Performance, Pateychuk won the Rookie of the Year award whilst Grospellier is the new Poker Personality of the Year.
