Matt Perrins Leads Event #9: $1,500 2-7 Draw Lowball Final

Matt Perrins

We said it in 2009 and were right, we said it in 2010 and were even more right, but could 2011 be the year of the Brits Part 3? Matt Perrins is in pole position to capture bracelet number 2 for the UK, as he is the chip leader with seven remaining at the final table of Event #9: $1,500 2-7 Draw Lowball.

It’s not the most played format in poker, especially in the UK, and Perrins has a tough job ahead of him with some big names including Chris Bjorin and Jason Mercier still in the hunt. Perrins is one of the top up and coming young players on the circuit, and the winner of the IPT Venice in 2009 amongst his achievements.

Perhaps even more notably, he is the best friend of triple crown winner Jake Cody, having gone to school with him and learned the game together – if you believe in omens, this is a good one. We fully expect another rowdy Brit rail this evening at the Rio, and why not?
