Over the weekend APAT held the first event of season 5, sponsored by 888 Poker, the English Amateur Poker Championships held at the G Casino, Coventry with 156 runners playing to win over £3,600 as part of a £11,700 prize pool.
Courtesy of 888 Poker the winner of the Championship wins an entry to a UKIPT main event as part of an overall sponsorship package where APAT members have the chance to win added value throughout a packed season of Live and Online National Championships and leagues.
Mark Briggs went into the final fourth in chips, at a table that included defending champion Tod Wood, but soon took the lead after going on a big tear that saw him busting players for fun. He eventually defeated Craig Dawson heads up after a 2 hour see-saw battle where the lead changed several times. He won £3,625 and a UKIPT Main Event seat.
APAT now moves to the second National Championship of Season Five with the United Kingdom Amateur Poker Championships and APAT United Kingdom Home Internationals held at the Aspers Casino, Newcastle, in April. You can win your seat or buy in direct at 888 Poker (Also good for an exclusive 100% up to $888 sign up bonus when you join via PokerNews).
