The third major mid stakes UK tournament of last weekend commanded over 100 players, proving that live poker is alive and kicking in the UK. London-based amateur poker player David McConachie has won £10,360 for victory in the Fox Poker Club in association with PKR's March ‘Main Event’.
A field of over 100 players from around the country – some of which had qualified through satellite events and online via PKR – competed over three days for a share of the total £30,900 prize pool. This month the field included professionals Nikhil Persaud and the Hendon Mob’s Barney Boatman, but it was Chaz Chattha who performed best out of the pros by reaching heads-up play and securing a deal with eventual winner David McConachie.
Paul Whiting, Poker Director at the Fox Poker Club commented:
“We’re proud that the FPC Main Event has become a fixture on the national poker tournament calendar. Events of this prestige give us an opportunity to show off the club to a wider audience and the general membership look forward to it every month.”
April’s main event is planned to take place between 7th and 10th April 2011. You can qualify exclusively for it at PKR.
