Matt Myford wins Mediterranean Deepstack Poker Championships
Last weekend the Mediterranean Deepstack Poker Championships took place at Casino Portoroz, Portoroz, Slovenia. This up and coming poker destination is set to become very popular with the Brits (this writer has been and its amazing) which was nicely summed up with a superb 1-2-3 finish for UK & Ireland players.
Matt Myford of Nottingham saw off competition from Thomas ‘Bomba’ Nolan and UK veteran Paul Jackson to pocket the €11,500 first prize.

PokerStars Announce UK & Ireland Championships of Online Poker
You have the WCOOP and the SCOOP, now players from this side of the pond can say hello to the UKCOOP. A brand new online poker festival for players exclusive to the UK, Ireland & Ireland of Man which will mirror some of their bigger online festivals.
The full details have not been released yet but there are going to be 11 events taking place between December 5-12 and a guaranteed prize pool of $512,500. Mad Marty To Open Irish Poker Awards
Organisers have announced that “Mad” Marty Wilson will warm up the crowd ahead of the forthcoming Irish Poker Awards in Dublin this Sunday, 17th October. Marty is known as one of poker’s great eccentric storytellers and he’ll undoubtedly get the crowd loosened up for the awards ceremony, which will be presented by Neil Channing and Bluff Europe’s Michael Caselli.
Marty Wilson earned his nickname “Mad” when he jumped into a zoo’s polar bear enclosure as a teenager in order to escape from rival football fans. His subsequent life has lived up to the moniker and made him one of the best-loved and most entertaining anecdotalists in poker.
The awards, the winners of which will be decided by the public, will honour the top achievers on the Irish Poker scene at a ceremony at the Regency Hotel, Dublin on Sunday, 17th October. It will culmination of a fantastic weekend of poker, with Europe’s largest live tournament in terms of the size of the field, The Boylepoker International Poker Open, kicking off on Friday 15th.
