GUKPT Luton Main Event Today

Today is the start of leg 6 of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour £1000 main event, which will be held at the G Casino in Luton. The GUKPT is in its 4th year and attracts players from all different backgrounds and skill levels including many well known pro’s. The Grand Final is to be held at the Grovsenor Victoria Casino, London on November 18th – 28th 2010.

The GUKPT reaches every G Casino, ensuring that there is a close enough for everyone to take part in this huge event. Last year Richard Gryko won this event and went on to win the leader board, beating Ireland’s Martin Silke by just half a point to take away the £20k first prize and the esteemed title of GUKPT player of the year.

WPT London Update

This years World Poker Tour London will be in some experienced hands as two of Las Vegas’ finest will be on board to run things at the event which is to be held at the Palm Beach Casino, Mayfair, London between 30th August – 4th September 2010. Doug Dalton who is director of operations at Bellagio will be in charged of the upcoming cash games during the WPT and Jack McCelland the tournament director at the Bellagio will be doing what he does best and directing the tournament at this year’s WPT.

The show for the £5,000 + 300 event will be presented by Kara Scott with Jesse May and Mike Sexton as commentators. Players who have recently confirmed include, Phil Ivey, Tony G, Dave ‘Devilfish’ Ulliot, Alexander Kravchenko, Annette Obrestad, Sorel Mizzi, Barry Shulman and James Akenhead.

Genting Casinos London Poker Manager Simon Tomsett said: “There’s a real buzz about the WPT London Poker Classic and it fits that we have chosen to partner with two of the best in the business to oversee the action. Jack and Doug bring experience and stature to the event and cash games. We may not have the water features of Bellagio but we’re expecting top tournament action at The Palm Beach Casino and some Bobby’s Room magic at Crockfords. The WPT London Poker Classic kicks-off the biggest poker month in British history where across all the major events and games we’re estimating that £100 million will be wagered through the poker tables in the capital.”
